About Doug

Doug is an investment professional addicted to words and writing, mostly for his own enjoyment.  Doug has held the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1987.  He has written market letters, blog posts, and even a novel or two.  In the midst of working on "Retirement Walk," a nonfiction meditation on what it means to be a follower of Christ in retirement, Doug enjoys the challenge of considering ideas on the written page, mostly because he gets all quite addled in person and his old word processing software doesn't talk back to him.

Doug's has been involved in the investment management business for years.  Doug believes in active management, managing investment portfolio risk exposure based on what’s happening in the market now.  “Volatility” creates risk and opportunity in the financial markets.  Being on the right side of volatility is the key to successful active management.

Author of "Assassination of Trust" Doug recently updated this 1995 tale and to make it available as an eBook in the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble bookstores.  Email Doug if you would like a free loaned copy on your Kindle reader.  "Retirement Walk" is a work-in-process and he is hoping that you have stopped by this web site to sign up for periodic updates and will take part in that ongoing conversation.

Doug describes himself as being a "past and future (charter) member" of the Horizon Sunrise Rotary club.  Doug has also sat on a number of boards in the Grand Valley, including the Colorado Mesa University Foundation (Past President), the Museum of Western Colorado, Go-El Ministries, Caprock Academy Long-Term Planning Committee, Messiah Lutheran PTA, and the Palisade High School Community Advisory Council.   Doug and his wife, Chris, have three active boys who keep him involved in a wide range of activities.  Some of those activities used to require him to go outside, but we're pretty much past that stage by now.
